I Can Do It….but what is It?

On September 24th 2010 Pauline and I set off for the second annual ‘I Can Do It’ Event in London. Louise L. Hay founded the I Can Do It! Conference four years ago as a forum for kindred spirits to gather, commune, and heal themselves and each other. It is run all over the world. We attended the first ‘I Can Do It’ London last year. Some of last years speakers included Louise Hay herself; Wayne Dyer; Robert Holden; Gregg Braden; Doreen Virtue and Brian Weiss among others. This year we attended talks by Neale Donald Walsch; Julia Cameron; Jude Currivan; James Redfield; Cheryl Richardson, Robert Holden, Doreen Virtue and, of course, Louise Hay, who is inspiring and an example to us all.

We had been a little apprehensive about whether it would be as good as the first year but it certainly was. The highlight for me has to be Neale Donald Walsch’s keynote speech on Friday evening. He is an incredible speaker; he had us captivated for the whole evening. Neale addressed the ‘It’ in ‘I Can Do It’. What is the ‘It’? What are we here for? What is it that I can do? Are we here to gather stuff like cars, houses, more cars and more houses? Or is the ‘It’ about spiritual awakening and becoming enlightened?

As Neale spoke I contemplated what that ‘It’ is for me. What is my ‘It’ and can I actually do ‘It’? The ‘It’ that I can do is being true to my-self. The ‘It’ is living my life in truth. It’s helping others to find their true selves too. Considering all of this has begun a new awakening within me. For the past number of years I have been on a journey to awaken my soul, to discover the real me. Be honest with yourself is one of the best gifts that you can give yourself. Living your truth gives you freedom. It is about joy, peace and living a life that is meaningful and connected.

A few years ago I decided to live my truth. I decided to do the things that brought me joy. I began to live the life I had always wanted to live but never had the courage to live. I had been afraid. I was afraid of what people would think; afraid of being chastised and being an outcast. But my truth could no longer stay hidden. It demanded a voice. I wanted to live. I wanted to be me. I took baby steps at first; telling a few people that I did Reiki healing; telling only a very select few that I could see auras and energy fields and angels. The truth heals us and it sets us free. My truth has led me on a wonderful journey of self-discovery. It has raised my consciousness and made me more aware. It has led to an awakening of my spirit.

There has to be more to life than getting the car, the girl or guy, the house, the better car, the bigger house, etc, etc. Stop to ask yourself today: what is the ‘It’ that I can do? What moves you? What makes you feel alive? Then go do it!

And remember Neale Donald Walsch’s words: ‘Your purpose for being on the earth is much more profoundly revealing of who you are than you had ever imagined’
