I Choose Love

I’d like to share with you some wonderful lyrics from Shawn Gallaway’s I Choose Love and tell you about how I have chosen love:
I Choose Love
I can see laughter, or I can see tears
I see a choice, love or fear
What do you choose?
I can see peace, or I can see war
I can see sunshine, or I can see a storm
What do you choose?
Now I choose to live with freedom flying
From my heart, where the light keeps shining
I choose to feel the whole world crying
For the strength that we can rise above
I choose Love
I choose Love
These words hold such meaning for me. We are all faced with difficult situations in our lives. Everyone has had those moments where we feel like the world is closing in on us and there seems to be no way out – but there always is.
I have been through times in my life where I have felt lost and alone. I have been scared and not known which path to choose. Now I know that I can choose the path of love. Just knowing that I have the love and guidance of my angels and guides helps me to move forward. When I feel like I am surrounded by turmoil I ask myself what is the best option for me? What brings me closer to my true self and what makes my heart sing? What brings me joy?
I think that everyone experiences some type of fear at some point in their lives. This song is about choosing love over fear. I think that if we let that fear in, and experience it, and then let it go we are choosing the path of love. Fear can be useful at times (like when it gets you out of a dangerous situation!) but not if we let it control our lives. If I am fearful about something I let myself feel that fear and then I release it so that it no longer has a grip on me. I then choose to feel love. This is something that I have learned to do over time and I think anyone can learn – it just takes practice.
Next time you have that fearful feeling inside when you are faced with a difficult situation let yourself experience that fear and then consciously let go of the fear and breathe in peaceful feelings of love. That just means thinking of things that make you feel good. I find that surrounding myself with positive things and people really helps. Listen to uplifting music; watch funny programmes; avoid negative people; avoid the news; play with your children or the dog; go outside for a walk; laugh with your friends and be kind to yourself. We all lead busy lives these days but it’s important to take time out for you. Giving time to you is not selfish, it is self love. The more loving you are to yourself, the more loving you will be able to be to everyone around you, and in turn, the more loving they will be to you.
